Looks like I'll be missing this one guys. Sad If all goes well, I should be just getting out of the hospital around that time. Oh Well If I had my 'druthers', I'd rather be picking at Catfish Johnnies with you guys, but as the cable guy says;"gotta git er done".
Play one for me, and someone please look after Ernie Laughing

Fred will have the surgery this morning, at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa (where I had my surgeries). I know we all pray that everything will turn out OK.

I just got this update from Fred's daughter:

"Hi everyone it's Helen, Fred and Pat's oldest. We apologize for the mass email but we have so many of you to contact that we thought it would be best to do it way this first. Dad is out of surgery now, we just met with the surgeon who said the surgery was VERY successful. He removed about 40% of Dad's kidney and the cancer was contained to that area. Dad will have to stay in the hospital about 5 days and then will go back to see the Doc in two weeks.
We are are very grateful for all of your prayers and will keep you in our hearts."

Blake Hawkins and I (and our wives) visited Fred this afternoon. He looks good and appears to be recovering well. It won't be long and Fred will be back behind his Emmons.

I have a used hardshell Gibson Dreadnaught style acoustic guitar case that is free to anyone that wants it. If someone is coming to the jam and wants it, let me know and I'll bring it.

I don't know how old the case is, but we got it with a trade in on a new Grammer guitar and case in 72, when I worked for Little Roy Wiggins at his lower Broadway music store. Roy gave me the Grammer Guitar that I always used on our shows there, when I left and he also gave me the case. It has the name "Carl Phillips" stamped on the case.

I noted that Bernie Waldon was on a trip (Alaska) and that we would need a Bass player. I have three volunteers for Bass so we are set on that. Clyde Wiggins, if he and Tom make the trip from Sarasota, John King and Al Partridge from New Port Richey.

I just heard from Al Partridge and the cost of gas has claimed another one, since we have Clyde and John there to pick bass.

Actually, considering the cost of gas, I want to thank everyone in advance for the club support, and travel to Lake Panasoffkee. (I saw $4.119 at a Shell station on SR44 in Inverness yesterday).
