Start here
http://www.steelguitarinfo.com/strings/stringgauges.html

or here
http://www.alanhorvath.com/stringauges.php

Maybe here
http://www.countrypickin.com/help/string_gauge_chart.html

I'll find more if needed. For lap steel go a gauge or 2 higher, as you don't need to bend 'em.

Keith, Thanks for your help but those web sites don't give me the exact gauge sizes I need for a 22.5 scale in G.Do you know of
any other places that can make this easy?

How about this site? All you need to know are the notes of the six strings. http://www.hawaiiansteel.com/learning/gauges.html

Assuming you're tuning in high bass G (bass to treble G B D G B D) then the same gauges as used on most Dobro® string sets will work fine for your Fender lap steel. If you're looking for an inexpensive string set, you could use a set of regular gauge guitar strings (which typically run from .013 to .056).
