I am new to the forum and was told that I should get hooked up with the steel guitar world. I have an in home stringed instrument repair buisiness and recently repaired a set of tuners on a 54 Fender stringmaster. The customer seemed to think other steel players may need some help in this area. Is so I'm ready to listen and maybe repair. Let me hear from you.

Hi Lonnie, welcome to the forum!
If you can repair Stringmaster tuners to their original state, you'll likely encounter some interested parties here. In fact, I have 2 sets that have failed tuners on each 4-in-line strip. I replaced them with tuners I bought on eBay and the forum. A guy here in town tried to fix them but that didn't work out.

| Are you set up to do welding? I have a pre-Stringmaster Dual Pro with tuner issues. It was suggested that I take it to a jeweler to be welded (or soldered or brazed---I'm not sure what the applicable procedure would be). So if a specialist appeared (such as you) it would indeed be welcome. Yes, I'd like to know more too. |

Jon and Rick, the tuner set I recently repaired had a broken worm gear shaft. I was given a handful of loose gears but had no luck with them, they all slipped. I found a set of regular guitar tuners, (6-in line) and just cut one section out and soldered it in place. The button had to be pressed on but that was easy. It seemed to do the trick and the customer liked it. This was a mail order repair so I never saw the instrument.
I just used a little gas torch and solder to attach it. Price is always conditional to the extent of the damage.
I will be glad to look at anything you have that needs work. I am a machinist and have most tools to repair with.
