What are some of the better pickups for a resonator guitar?
Thanks,

Not a pickup, but I will suggest you try the mic Behringer C-1, sounds great for Dobro, does not feed to easily, and costs less than nothing. |

I saw Jerry Douglas on tour with Paul Simon, and he managed to fill an arena with a nice acoustic sound. I understand he is using a Fishman Aura with custom images and a prototype Fishman pickup.
Out here in the real world the Schertler BASIK is the pickup of choice these days. It comes in two flavors: the SET, which includes an inexpensive 1.5V power supply; and the PRO, which comes with an XLR phantom power adapter.
I chose the PRO and built a simple 9V power supply to use when phantom power is not available.

I agree with Lynn's post.
On its own, my Fishman passive pickup sent through a Fishman preamp isn't all that great, and it sounds way better in conjunction with a microphone (I use a Shure SM-57).
I saw Jerry play Saturday in San Francisco, and his setup with his Beard guitars sounded superb.
The Schertler, and this evolving Fishman system that Jerry is using, seem to be the ticket. Jerry still combined his pickup with the same mike he has been using for several years, the name of which escapes me.
