What kind of strings would you guys suggest I put on my starter? I've had it for a few months and have yet to restring the damn thing. I think its a little overdue... also, I just don't know the different tonal properties that different types of strings may have, if anybody could shed some light here it'd be much appreciated.

JD, get the Lloyd Green J-LG-E9 set from the Forum. This set has a .022 wound 6th string which is supposed to reduce percieved cabinet drop. You can't go wrong with Jagwire or Lloyd Green. Smile

JD, I'd click on the strings link up at the top of the page or here. There's a special set listed just for the "Starter".

I'd use whatever set Carter recommends, particularly if you are a relatively new player. Generally, the mfg. knows what works best on their guitar.

Here is a recent thread about strings that you may find helpful. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=134983&highlight=strings

Differences in the SS and Nickel alloys include a brighter sound for the SS. Also SS strings require less changer travel generally.
