I would like to get some feedback from forumites on this matter.

What is the recommended distance between the pickup and strings using a Lawrence 705? I was told 2 quarters.

But on a George E-66 only one quarter, taking the plastic into consideration.
I REALLY WANT MORE INPUT ON THE LAWRENCE 705,WHAT THAT DISTANCE IS.
Does this sound correct, as I am in the process of installing one of each on pedal steels??

TXS for any input.

Al, when I had a 66 on my Sho-Bud I had it as close as I could get it without the strings buzzing on the plast ic, it depends on what sound you want the further away will be a little mellow , I did not like the 66 so I changed it for George E PF and that is a very nice sounding pickup.. John

Al, it is trial and error. But a least it is easy. Set the pickup at two quarters, then play it. If it is too mellow and not enough volume, raise it up a bit until you find the sweet spot. All makes of pickups will be a little different, so they will need to be "individualized".
But it is not something that you will have to get someone to "mod" for you.

You can do it.
