Been sitting here trying to consistently hit the sweet spot on my pick to get the cleanest chime (metal pick on curled middle finger), and was wondering who else chimes with their picks (metal or plastic) in this fashion or another.
Of course I love the sound of fleshed harmonics, but this method adds another nice spectrum.

Ron,

I get a cleaner harmonic sound with the thumb pick which is plastic.

A middle finger curved playing harmonics seems awkward to me. But this of course may be just me.

Aloha,
Don

Don, I too pick the harmonic with my plastick thumbpick for this, and that metal (mid finger) pick sits naturally towards the center of my hand in a Jerry Reed 'claw' style with the metal finger picks curled.
This came from it often getting in the way when going for 4th finger knuckle chimes and making a racket, then finding that it could be a very good thing, and that you could put those unique chrystaline harmonics to good use 'if' controlable.
It's been difficult getting them at call, and I was curious if anyone has 'perfected' this technique.
