Has anyone on this forum heard of a 14 string lap steel. someone gave me an unfinished lsg and I was curious if this was an odd setup! |

interestingly enough, my friend in sacramento has an oahu 16 string lap steel. the pickup is a richenbacher horseshoe magnet monster like the one on my '37 b6 rick, but for 16 strings. you'd need a bar a mile long to span the whole neck. he's had it for ages and usually breaks the tuning up into two halves. luckily, he's got a good day job! |

just talked to the guy with the 16 string...we think it must have been some kind of custom order from richenbacher somehow...the pickup's gotta be one of a kind. oahu name on the headstock, ugly mother of toilet seat paper(?) covered wood body, rick 16 str pickup, rick tuners and the four middle strings have banjo tuners...he's going to take some pictures for me and i'll see if i can figure how to post 'em eventually. |
