My first amplifier was a small Oahu made by Valco I believe. I still have it but unfortunatly the transformers burnt up, and the speaker is gone. I would like to find one for nostalgic reasons.
Mine had one volume and one tone I believe.

Those old Valco amps were great sounding. Not much in the way of clean headroom but wonderful for lap steel or blues guitar.
I believe Mercury Magnetics sells the correct replacement transformers and Weber makes a very good sounding vintage type alnico speaker. Their Signature Series speakers are cheap and sound good.
You could restore yours for less than the price of a used one. They're starting to get pretty expensive these days.

If you're ever out in the northern California bay area, there is a shop in San Rafael called Players Guitars. It's a small room with piles of old small wattage amps with field coil speakers and old arch tops hanging on the walls. He doesn't have a website. Last time I was there he had a few Oahus, each a different model.

The second track on my "Page of Shameless Self-Promotion" is my 6 string Fender non pedal steel though my Oahu model 230 and no overdrive added. Just pure old school tube and speaker growl. I was pretty happy with my tone that evening as far as rock tones go! Very Happy

Sorry, I get excited about Oahu amps! Here's my Tonemaster 230K.

I hope you find one!
