Some time back, I was asking for some information about a Selmer steel guitar and amplifier that a friend of mine has in Halifax NS (who doesn’t have a computer). Recently, I’ve received the two pictures below. The guitar serial number is 439. The guitar fits inside the case in which the amplifier is incorporated. While you can’t see it in the picture, the word Selmer is at the top of the headstock, and those are Grover tuners. The frets are inlaid wood (possibly maple). The “nut” appears to be made of Bakelite says my friend. The sunburst coloured piece over the bridge is wood. The amplifer label says: “Henry Selmer & Company Limited, 114-116 Charingcross Rd., London, WC2. While I’ve looked at a website of Selmer interest, I didn’t see anything about this guitar/amplifier. I wonder if anybody can comment on the guitar/amplier. How old is it? At one time, there was mentioned the possible use of Rickenbacker components???? I’d appreciate any comments of interest. Thanks. George.
