i was thinking about raising it on a vertical knee.
i figured that i could get a good augmented with no pedals and a minor with the B pedal (and it should be easy to release the A while engaging the vertical to get a 4 to 4minor change).
i was looking for someting more positive than half-pedaling the A pedal.
as a side note, i was also going to split the 2nd string lower (putting the whole step lower on the vertical and the half lower on the RKL, where i have both lowers now).
does anyone else do this, or see any problems with it that i may be overlooking? |

I don't see a problem musically but I think you would be better off just practicing the half pedal. As long as you hit it a little flat, it still sounds fine, if you don't nail it. JMO |

I get the C note with a split between my A pedal raise and my B-Bb lower (vertical) |

I play an U12 and I raise the 5 string a half step with a lever. I think of it as a C6 movement and use it all the time. In E9, it makes a nice 5 augmented chord. _________________ U12 Williams keyless 400

I lower the 5 and 10 a full tone with a knee lever and raise it a half tone by splitting it with the A pedal.
Sometimes I will pedal "in" a half tone raise when going to a full tone raise.
I saw an Emmons PP that had a feel stop on the A pedal for that a long time ago (like 1972). The only one that I've seen. It came into the shop for repair and after I was done with the repair and checking it out I found it had the feel stop. |

I raise 5&10 a half step on my LKR and lower my E's on my RKL. Using both with the B pedal gives some sweet transitional chords, minors, diminished, etc.
If you lower your E's with your right knee left, try it out. I also have the fourth pedal that raises strings 1&2 and lowers 6, a move usually done with a knee lever. This works well for me. Fred |

I installed (DIY) a half stop on my A pedal, raising both the 5th and 10th half a tone. Like it. You should find pictures of this install, i posted it here shortly after installing.
You do get a aug-chord, as someone mentioned, and when combined with my B and RKR i can get a Dim-chord. ( which is normally not available in a E9th, 3+1 guitar) |

Alex, I raise the 5th string 1/2 tone with the same pedal that I lower the 2nd string. Works out good for me. I find I am much more accurate with it than half pedal "A". Although I use the 1/2 A Pedal also.
Warm Regards

If I had a push-pull, on which raises dominate lowers, I would do this instead of lower 5 (and possibly 10) a half tone - to get the minor, diminished, and so on that Fred mentions. But on an all-pull, I would prefer to lower 5 (and possibly 10) a half tone and then split with the B-pedal raise to get the same thing. |

Most Universal tunings have a half step raise on the middle B (9th string.) |
