I've discovered there are a lot of steel players in Australia, apart from Lucky Oceans, Warren Neilsen, Kenny Kitchen and Michelle Rose, but I haven't had the chance to meet a lot of them yet. The first one I met when I moved over here was Wayne Appleby. He was playing steel for Jean Stafford at the Boyup Brook CM Festival, where I'd performed, singing and playing piano. I was really impressed. Like a bunch of steel players, he is based out of Brisbane. He plays a JCH 10x10 through Peavey. You ought to see the Anthony - Wayne Appleby Signature Model resonator guitar that's just come out too. Wow! You can check them out at
www.joyceramgatie-mycountrymusicspace.com/Silvertop

Then I met Ashley D'Silva. He came over to the house jamming a couple of times, and the cat is good. A great singer too, but unfortunately he moved to Melbourne soon after we met. I'm really looking forward to meeting more Aussie steel players.

Howdy to all my Steel mates.

Hi Milt,

I will meet you in Brisbane too, looking forward to it!!
There are hundreds of steel players out here, though you wouldn't really know it until you start asking around. I know of quite a few who don't get on the forum - but they're out there.

Just want to let you know I won't be making it to Brisbane this year. My 3 weekly regular gigs fell through, so I'm looking for work. Had a 14 month run at the restaurant, until it was closed down recently due to a major gas leak in the kitchen. They're looking for a new place, so I'm hoping they find one soon.
Decided it was best to pull out now, then if a gig comes up, I won't have to worry about trying to juggle time off for the Brisbane show.

I'm disappointed, but that's show business.

I talked to Warren yesterday and he said he hasn't had a beer in 6 weeks, so you'll have to drink my quota. Sorry about that.

Hi Milt,

Sorry to hear of your loss with the gig in James Street. Trust something comes around real soon.

Glad to hear you are playing around with the PSG. I to am playing alot though really need to get together and Jam with other musos as I am getting stuck in a rut playing the same old riffs.

Looking forward to an opportunity to get over to Perth and jamming with you.

Regards and hang in there

Hey Milt, Just wanted to say hi. Miss seeing you at Branson. In case you don't remember me I am the grandmother of the young steel player that Terry Bethel helped some, Austin Stewart. Hope you get a gig soon and all goes well with you and your family. Take care.

Hey - Perth Dudes (Ashley, Milt)

I'm moving back over soon (from Tassie)

I got a job in the city and my immediate family are all there (and down the SW) so I am looking forward to it.

I hope to find a place to rent near the rail line between Perth and Freo (best of both worlds).

I'm hoping to geting some lessons (that'll be a confronting experience!) It'll be nice to get the opportunity at some stage to meet you guys - I'm looking forward to that too.

Good luck with the job hunt, Milt

Great hearing from you Donna, and yes, I do remember you. I hear Austin is really playing great. Bet you are the proud grandmother. Tell Jerry hi from me, and Austin too. Hope you are all fit and well, and dodging the storms. It's been a terrible year hasn't it? We see it on the news here all the time. Really heartbreaking.

Take care.
Milton.

will do, Milt.

I'll be staying with my Dad in Carine when I get there. ETA 4 July at this stage. It might take a little while for me to find a place and settle in. I'll stay in touch and let you know how I'm going.

Milt, Yes I am the PROUD grandma. Austin is doing good. We are going tonight to Ks. to hear him at the Middle Creek Oprey just south of Kansas City. They have him there every few months. He will be 14 in June.I will tell him and Jerry hello for you.

The storms are hitting all around us, but so far on our side of town we have gotten very little damage. Some from the hail, but nothing compared to others. Take care of your self.
