What is the purpose of the right hand's picking up by the bar that Mr Phelps does at the beginning of the video at about 22 seconds?
(Not the behind the bar thing, although what the heck is that, too, just up by the bar right after that).
I noticed Santo doing this on Sleepwalk also...

I know what the picking behind the bar is... Try it, and you'll see... You get this sort of bell-like sound, and it kinda goes in and out as you move the bar. Bob Brozman talks a little bit about it in his Traditional Hawaiian Steel Guitar DVD.

Nice tracks, esp. that Xavier Rudd one - very early Ben Harper-ish, and the foot-tapping makes the whole track groove, great stuff!

Here is a fun duet. Backup guitar played on a Maccaferri style guitar.
