I am thinking of buying this amp and wondered what everyone thought about
its sound compared to a steel king or a nv 400 with the ken mods of course.
Any one using one on gigs .. this amp is rated at 85 clean tube watts ..
right now I play through a HRD and it breaks up too soon .. I love the tone with
my Emmons or Sierra 12 strings so I thought that this amp would be like the
holy grail for that Fender sound but with extended bottom end and headroom.
What do ya all think. |

Fantastic sounding amp. Better than the Steel King IMHO, but this amp has been plaqued with quality problems. Check with Fender Customer Service and see if they got ironed out. I know people here on the Forum that bought one and they had problems. |

You may be ahead of the game by purchasing an older Twin and replacing the two twelves with a fifteen. ...In the reissue Twin the stock speakers, baffle, and grill cloth can be removed as a single unit so conversion is fairly simple. I fabricated a new baffle from 5/8" marine plywood and covered it with grill cloth purchased from Fender. My speaker of choice was the 15" Black Widow 1504SB which IMHO sounds much better than the stock Fender JBL clone found in the "Custom 15"... (One hint, offset the speaker opening in the baffle slightly to provide clearance for the transformer). I saved approximately $300.00 over the cost of a new unit plus all the bugs had already been worked out of the used amp. |

The Reissue Twin is not the Custom Twin 15. |

I owned a ’65 Re–Issue Fender Twin~Reverb Custom™ 15, which is the same chassis as the ’65 Re–Issue Twin~Reverb 2x12, but in a cabinet that is constructed 2” higher than the 2x12-version for 2½-yrs. with never a problem whatsoever! I only sold it because of the exteme weight! Otherwise, I'd still have it. The only difference between the ’65 Re-Issue Fender Twin~Reverb 2x12 and the ’65 Re-Issue Fender Twin~Reverb Custom™ 15 is 2” in the height of the “Custom” cabinet and the 15” Eminence Speaker! Same Chasiss! _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb
