Anybody know anything about this company that sells amp supplies?
I placed an order 3 1/2 weeks ago, and for two weeks never received a response. I assumed they were closed, out of business. I send (4) emails telling them to cancel the order, and a FAX (confirmed). When I called I could only get a recording to leave a message, then a message that stated that the mailbox was full.
This week I have a 130.00 charge to my credit card from them, but still no supplies.
In the mean time I ordered the same supplies from "Parts is Parts", and received them in a matter of days.
What do I do? No way to run a business.
regards,
lefty

Hi Lefty,
I experienced the same exact thing. I ordered parts on March 7th. I did eventually get them but I couldn't wait and bought them from another source. Fortunately for me, my loss was only $35 dollars. I now have the shipment from them (about a month later) and I don't need them. I guess it will go in the same place as the rest of my spare parts. Like you, I had no luck in emails or phone calls. I think you will get your parts, just not sure when. FWIW, I won't buy from them again. Ken Fox is the guy. Buy from him. I learned my lesson

I have been waiting over a month for my parts, so I called my credit card and filed a dispute. I got a letter from the credit card company today that said they refunded my $98 and are in the process of trying to contact Ampwares. I wish them luck with that Laughing

Every few months the issue arises on some forum or bulletin board somewhere with yet another person, unawares, placing an order with them. My experience with them and my observation of them is that rarely does anyone get totally burned. The guy has absolutely zero concern about simple customer relations. He cannot be reached and he does not respond. I believe that most of his orders are secondary----he receives an order and then orders it from his supplier. In most cases it would seem that he does eventually fulfill the order. But I will never do any more business with the guy. Can't trust anyone who has so little respect for the fundamentals of communication and so little respect for the customer. There are other suppliers who ship expeditiously---Hoffman & Weber to name two. Screw Ampwares.

I guess I should have done a search on the forum before placing the order. I may just have to keep the tolex and grill cloth and when I get it. The hassle of trying to return it and get credit may not be worth it.
Bad lesson learned on my part. Sounds like others have be burned by this Ampwares jerk. Thanks for the response.

You'll get your stuff.......eventually. (It just takes them forever to ship.) If you're in a hurry for something, Antique Electronics is far more prompt and easy to deal with. Better prices, too.

This is the latest on this nightmare. I went to the bank and was able to get the charge removed from my credit card. Today (into the 7th week after ordering)I have a package show up. It was mailed on May 5th.
I guess I will mark it "Return to sender" and take it to the post office.
I have already finished my amp with materials received from partsareparts (3 weeks ago).
Still no correspondence from Ampwares.
Any advice appreciated?

Send it back as you say. But make sure you send it with some sort of proof of delivery. If they can prove it was delivered to you, they can re-charge your credit card. Without proof you sent it back, you will probably get stuck with the charge.

Well, get back, Loretta, Elvis has left the building! I'm sitting here with a sealed envelope containing order and check for some items, moments ago deciding I'd walk it out in the morning.

Thanks to all who shared on everyone's behalf! I'm very grateful to you.

If you guys have some other sources for the stuff Ampwares sells please give me the URL's or Websites. Im beginning to build some new (old) enclosures and could use sources for Tolex, Grill Cloth, Hardware etc. If all goes well I may try and bring a few cabs to the ISGC to sell.
I inherited a very nice woodshop and were tooling up to build speaker enclosure's and Amp racks, Console case's etc and you can never have too many sources for parts.

Were also doing Metal fab and we can Punch and laser cut most any materials, we build speaker breakout panels, or looms etc for whatever the needs are.

Jon Bessent. Great guy. Gives good advice. Top-quality parts, all tested and labeled to exact values. Talks to you on the phone about your amp. In Austin. He's helped me recap and retube three old Fender amps.

I agree with these and add

www.tubedepot.com
One bad packed tube, but following ordeers were fine.

and
www.ceriatone.com in Malaysia.
They have well done kits and lots of amp choices.
I expect to go visit their shop in 3 weeks.

http://www.tedweber.com
Ted will help you make a best choice for your needs.

http://www.hoffmanamps.com
Doug is the fastest shipper on the planet.

http://www.mojomusicalsupply.com/
Done several orders from them everything came
on time and good condition.

One exception to this list...
http://www.angela.com/
Never successfully ordered ANYTHING from them.

If you know "exactly" what you want,
and ask NO QUSTIONS,
then they will sell to you. (I have been told)

But ask one logical question
and you get full tilt 'Soup Nazi'...

They are alleged to have certain harder to find things.
But I have yet to successfully buy anything from them....

Mojo, Hoffman an Weber are my main suppliers.
