I;m at a loss here I'll try to post pics ,MLA this should be easy for you.

The shape is vaguely National D8 Console, and the knobs and fretboards look Valco, but the rest of the appointments look wrong.
Could this be a refinish job or a homebrewed project?
Looks pretty good either way.

| Body, fretboard, control panel configuration, tuner covers -- all National. (I play a triple-neck National.) I'd say someone's done a complete reworking, obviously including a new finish and pickups. Beautiful instrument, though. |

Those are great steels, and will always regret selling mine (out of neccessity  ).
Mine didn't have the manufacturer's badge, but I eventually discovered the make, which I'm at a loss to recall at this moment.
MasterTone type names are running thru my head, but nothing is locking in...
I think they were Canadian made. |

Thanks for the responses, It does not appear to be a re-finish ,or a home brew , it does seem to be Valco ,I'll try to show the case. Bill

Magnatone made a guitar with the three pieces (two necks and a body) similiar to this. I sold one to Scotty Henderson some time back, but the fretboards didn't look exactly like this. I DON'T THINK. It was called a Lyric as I remember it. Don't hold me to it.

| I have one at the shop with similar soap bar-like pickups that was sold to me several years ago as a Supro (obv. not the common 2 coil Valco pickups)- not really sure what it is although it has big Rhinestones in the fretboard- is all white and has 4 legs- "so I have that going for me" (Bill Murray- Caddyshack). |

It looks like an evolution of the Magnatone Lyric. Other than the hardware (including pickups, bridge and tuner covers, fretboard graphics) the basics are identical.
Check this link to see what the typical Lyric looked like (but don't pay too much attention to the price... it seems unreasonably high IMHO).
