I just bought a Boss A and B box. I use it to go from my steel to acoustic preamp for My Takamine or dobro. But I'm gettin a purty loud hum since I started usin this thing. It runs off batteries only, so I can't use my Hum-X. Any suggestions on how I might get rid of this hum. We had a Gospel singin last Sat night, and it was very anoying! Thanks

Terry

If you had a ground loop problem before you started using the AB box you would still have it. Both devices are plugged in and the ground on all devices are connected together, thus if there was a ground loop issue, it's still there.

If your preamp is powered from a wall socket, you probably need to lift that ground. Your battery powered A/B box is likely not the cause of the hum.

Donny, my Award Session Preamp does have an AC power supply. I went back down to the Church today where my steel is at, and I think the problem is in one of my 3' cords.
