Man oh man, did I hit the jackpot. While down at Bobbe's ordering my new Rittenberry, he let me have an advance copy of his new country cd and brother, this cd is country all the way through. He took many of the country classics and played them like they used to be played! I had no idea this yankee had such a country soul! The sounds kinda take you back to the 60's when the steel was king of the country sound. If you have an itch for how the steel used to sound in country, then this cd is for you. It is a cd that was made with the steeler in mind. All the licks are there including bouncing the bar to incredible harmonics and as usual, played very tastefully. Another thing that struck me was the fact that the cd is so well engineered. There is Bobbe on steel, 2 accoustics, one electric, a bass and a snare. That's it. And you can hear the accoustic guitars throughout the whole recording. Perfectly balanced all the way through.
When you guys get your copy, give a close listen to the way he does the Johnny Cash song, "I Still Need Someone". Talk about some delicious licks!!
I listened to the cd several times and then I took the time to "hear" the songs. Everything you ever wanted to hear in a steel country song is in there and each time you listen to them, you will probably hear something you did not catch before.
Mister Seymour, this cd is your finest to date in my opinion. When are you going to make another one?

I have a lot of Bobbe's CDs and tab books and enjoy them all. After the instruction he did recently with the song, "I Love You Because", Chalker style, I wish that he would produce more of Curly's hits with the tablature all on C-6th. That's the only way I'll ever come close. |

Yeah, Bama and Charles, you guys are right. The man is super talented and capable of making the steel do things most of us can only dream about. I am really up on this cd not only because of the way he plays the classics in the style he chose, but he said he was going back in time and play like he did when he first came to Nashville. But he also adds so many little subtle touches to the songs that at first you may not even hear them, but you will as you listen to them over and over you will notice the little extra touches he does on each song.
This is also the first cd that I know of where vocals are featured and he shows how he does fill ins and such. And he switches a lot between E9 and C6, so each song gives you a different look and you never hear the same style twice. I really think everyone is going to like this cd for many reasons.
