The Moonlighters featuring Mike Neer will be playing a house concert in Baltimore this Saturday from 5-7. The Moonlighters are a cool band and in addition to providing killer solos Mike does a great job backing up the singers. After The Moonlighters sets I'll be playing with a local group featuring Rod Smith and Jennifer Camp. The concert is at 2311 South Rd. Baltimoe MD 21209. It would be pretty tough to get gigs as a steel player/dobroist with Dave G. within 100 miles. Man, you're everywhere, dude--King of the Eastern Seaboard.

Today in Ann Arbor you can still see many hippies and easily purchase patchoulli incense but you can also get a Starbucks coffee and buy a drill at Home Depot.
It's still as expensive to live here as it was back in the 60's. Remember, the University of Michigan owns much real estate in Ann Arbor and pays no taxes. It's a delicate balance... there would be no Ann Arbor if it weren't for the "U".

It was a real treat to be able to catch Mike Neer and the Moonlighters, then Dave Giegerich, at a house concert/party for the second time in six months. Having been present for the musical knockout that took place at the fabled Shenandoah Steel Summit, nothing was gonna get in the way of being "ringside" again. Dave on dobro and Dustpan-- both 7-stringers-- and Mike on tricone and Dunn guitar, were tearing it up. These guys are superb...
Rick Aiello was packin'...one of his new Dustpans-- black beauty with Maserati crinkle paint, "Son of Kong" pickup...he demo'ed it for me just before the magnificent Moonlighters kicked things off...gorgeous looks and sound (talkin' about the guitar, Rick ) ...
Mike, Dave, Rick...these guys are world-class at what they do, and they just keep on gettin' better. For me, kicking back with new and old friends, good food & drink, this end-of-summer shindig was a fan's paradise.
