Hi,

The pivot bolt on my ZB Custom that holds one of the 'L' brackets in place has a damaged thread and won't tighten enough to screw in properly. The pedal rod keeps popping out if I use it.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a replacement pivot bolt? I'll try locally first, but I'm not sure I'll have much luck. Thread sizes tend to be in metric over here. I'm guessing there is a standard size for this on ZBs?

Also because the thread is damaged on this, the thread in the bolt's hole on the guitar itself stands a good chance of being damaged too. Has anyone any ideas if this does turn out to be the case?

Thanks,

Steve

The hole can be tapped out to a metric size (M5), which is just a fraction bigger than the original thread.
Excercise care, though, as it is easy to strip aluminium whilst tapping.

Ok thanks Richard. I'm afraid I'm not very technical when comes to this sort of thing. How would you go about tapping it out?

It would be easiest to remove the aluminium bar before tapping out the hole, but it can be done in situ, using a set of taps (first, second, and plug)

You will also need a capscrew which is not threaded for its complete length, to allow it to tighten up on the aluminium bar.
You will probably need to saw the capscrew to length.

Email me your address, and I'll send you some parts to do the job

Got the metric tap and the capscrew Richard.

Worked like a dream. Pedal action nice and smooth. You saved the day. Thanks so much. Mr. Green
