Eleven out of the 20 players last Sunday were runing tube amps and I am not sure about Larry Cummings and Wes Bakkan. They were all sizes and colors, mostly Fender black this and that. They all did the job, no problem.
We also had everything from old Fenders to brand new Zum's and Desert Rose, and 6 PP's. Add Carter, Sierra, Mullen, GFI, and a Bud and we had ourselves a merry old time.

they were LOUD too! 
Jon Hyde's 17 watt Dr. Z was able to keep up with all the hundred watt fenders surprisingly enough.
My 5 watt epi valve jr. was thankfully not put to the test as Larry was kind enough to let me use one of his 400's instead. I saw a musicman similar to my own and it sounded great as well. also a peavey classic thirty...I was wondering how those might sound with steel, not bad.
It was great to see such a variety of gear, guitars and playing styles!
some of those tube amps sounded superb. Tyack's showman (i think it was a showman?)...course he would sound great plugged into a gophers butt. 
Only disappointment was Lary not playing. I wanted to check out his Webb and homemade cab that I had seen and loved the sound of in Spokane a few years back. |

| I was interested in this too... I expected to see more solid state amps than I did. My 18 watt Dr Z (Ben trying to cheat me out of a watt!) could have used more headroom for that event in my opinion. I wasn't expecting it to be as loud in there as it was - next time I'll be ready! Robin sure sounded great with his Fender amps - didn't matter if he was on his Emmons PP or his Fender 800. |
