Quick question for Y'all, a friend of Mine Keith Holter, was asking Me about ZumSteel's production...He said that He heard Bruce stopped making guitars,
Anyway, I was wondering whether or not there was any truth behind that? He was interested in possibly getting another guitar but said that He thought they quit production.
Thanks Y'all,

I talked to him a few months ago. He's taking some orders, but not every order. I guess you could call it semiretired.
Your best bet is to talk to him. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

A couple of years ago I was at a KC steel jam and Bruce was there (with his steel). Although he was still building steels, he said he was trying to get in more fishing time.
BTW, although he hasn't had enough recognition for his steel playing, he is an ISGC caliber picker. |

FWIW. ...... I was standing in his shop TWO years ago and asked him how long it would take him yo build me an SD-10 and he said he was not taking ANY new orders. But when I noticed new Zums still being delivered about a year later I asked him about it and he said he was just working his backlog down so I gave up. Must have been a heck of a back log |

When I heard about Bruce's new model steel: the Hybrid, I got my order in. Shortly thereafter I heard that Bruce wasn't taking any more orders due to the backlog for his guitars. There even was a rumor that he was out of business. I got a very nice letter from Bruce clarifying the issue. He was not going out of business and just had more orders than he could handle at the time. A while later I got my Zumsteel Hybrid and am very happy with it! |
