In opinion yes, it can. Because I believe music to be a very spiritual thing. I think whatever you listen to it gets into your head and your body, your spirit.
Some may call me nutts for stating this. However, think about it, if you listen to a song long enough it keeps coming back to you. I learned to play alot of stuff this way over the years.
My wife hears music and it gets into her head and though she knows nothing of the steel guitar she starts to hum or sing the tunes. My three and half year old listens in the car and hums along the melody, that he even can't say or sing the words to yet.
Now try to tell me that this doesn't get into your spirit, mind, heart or whatever you want to call it.
My wife and I won't allow our children to listen to or watch certain things because of this.
Alot of killers and psychos claim they hear voices and things from video games they have played that told them to kill people, etc.
My advice beware and be very careful what you listen to and let your children listen to if you love them.
May GOD bless!

yes and here is one reason
kids have a very very good memory for almost
all music ........good or bad
if you listen to satans lies and some do
through music lyrics soon they get
hooked on it and some times act it out
I would warn any parent not to let kids listen to
satanic music of any kind EVER!! |

Change the wording to: Can the music influence them in their thoughts and actions? Yes, of course and it does influence most all kids in some way. For some kids, some music (lyrics) has a dramatic influence toward the negative because of a poor self-image or mental health status.
If the kids were hearing voices this might indicate a mental illness. That would lead to a diagnosis of psychosis or schizophrenia. Brad would be correct in that the music would not produce mental illness or schizophrenia.
Do some lyrics in music have an evil influence? You better believe that it does and it influences aberrant behavior also. There are influences for evil and their are influences for good and it is not hard to tell the differance.
I have been a professional psychologist working with kids for many years. My experience is speaking the facts and not just giving an opinion.
Thanks for stopping by.

i would answer yes to your question David under the circumstance that the kids are , morons, unconscious, unhip or jes plain stupid
here again like past generations, kids will often protest or show a diff by going against their parents or the moral order at hand
the issue you raise is quite pertinent & important since for the past 30 years or more, satanic musik has been thriving
i must say, that i listened (& dug) the lyrics of " Sympathy for the devil" by the Stones
pertinent lyrics imo
reckon that's satanic musik too now ain't it ?
edited : there is a difference between subversive musik & satanic musik
satanic cults are dangerous

I believe this same discussion came up when the Waltz was introduced in Europe. Was that back in the 1700s? |

Just watch the TV news on any given day. There is a great deal of credence given to just such influences. _________________ The only thing better than doing what you love is having someone that loves you enough to let you do it.

Our ears pick up the sound around us and send a signal to the brain.
Some sounds irritate us; others soothe us.
There is music that makes you want to march and music that puts you to sleep.
Even without lyrics, music with harmony and order can affect the nervous system positively while discord produces a negative effect. |

Two songs that I cut my teeth on, as a High School Rock Guitarist, were "Hey Joe" and "Down By The River".
(J. Hendrix and N. Young)
Both were first person accounts of committing murder.
I wasn't inspired to act out the lyrics.
Perhaps a deranged person could use these songs as a soundtrack to his evil deeds. But if these songs did not exist, that person would find something else, maybe something as innocent as a Coyote and Roadrunner cartoon.
I'm against censorship because it's a slippery slope.
Should we ban the publication of "Romeo And Juliet" because it encourages teenage suicide? |

One man's garbage is another man's treasure.
Besides....kids need to explore them self's and become adult.I was rebelling against a lot of things when I grew up, so was the majority of adults. But as far as "Satanic Music" goes....some do hear it and some don't.
A lot of all this has to do with raising your children the right way.

I wish I could track this down exactly. But I'm not that good on computers. But back in something like the 1920's, when they were first forming the beureau (or however you spell that) of narcotics, the man who had been picked to head it said that marijuana was an evil drug because it made white women want to hang out with (racial slurs deleted) and it made young people want to listen to satanic music like jazz and swing.
I think we need to be extremely careful when we start talking in ways that might help us convince ourselves that it's a good idea to censor music. For one thing, if we censor unhappy people, we won't know what they're thinking. If we don't know what they're thinking, how can we be prepared to relate to them in an apprpriate way? _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

And if somebody is ready to jump off a bridge, we sure don't want to stop them because we don't know what they're thinking.
PS: The following is something I read and kept for future reference. You can take it for what it's worth:
"A former satonic high priest showed me numerous symbols on popular record albums indicating commitment and bondage to Satanism. He told me that about 85% of today's heavy metal and punk music groups are "owned" by Satonists. They have unwittingly sold themselves to Satanism in exchange for fame and fortune. Few of these artists actually practice Satanism, but most are hopelessly lost and lead others astray through the godless message in their music." |

You're asking about cause and effect. How do one know that some people aren't pre-disposed to be "out of their heads" for some other reason, and then observe that they also listen to satanic music. What's the cause and what's the affect, or is the correlation just coincidental?
I think cause and effect in human beings is very difficult to pin down. We're not talking about reasonably clear-cut physical cause-and-effect like Newtonian or Einsteinian physics - and even that has limitations, not all observed physical phenomena are clearly and unambiguously explained. In the absence of serious scientific study - which I think would be very difficult to do in a reasonably objective way - I think this comes down to personal and probably very biased opinion.
My opinion, of course. |

I heard voices in my head all the time when I was a kid, before I even discovered music. Looking back, I think it was totally harmless. The human brain is very odd in its mechanisms. Sometimes it short circuits in strange ways.
I now think that many problems can be attributed to bad diets. I came from a family of bakers, and sugar addition was a big part of our lifestyle. Today, I can feel the difference in my thought processes when I eat a moderate amount of sugar. If I were to eat today what I ate as a kid, I'm sure that my brain would go haywire.
In my opinion, hearing voices in your head is unrelated to the type of music that you listen to. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
