Colin Alder's 2nd annual Lapstravaganza in Santa Cruz California this past Saturday was a rousing success. Bobby Black,David Phillips,Patti Maxine, myself and Bill Walker were the featured players and I proved once again why I shouldn't ever be allowed anywhere near a lap steel.... There were plenty of CruzTones being played as we West Coast pickers seem to like them a whole lot.But seriously,Santa Cruz is a cool town full of cool people and the Kuumbwa Jazz Center is a very hip venue.
I really enjoyed playing and hope to be invited back next year. I'll practice my slants Colin - I swear. |

Michael,
You did a fantastic job! I think you showcase your Cruzetone very well. It is always great to have
you be a part of the Santa Cruz scene - you fit right in. I am already looking forward to next year.

Who woulda guessed a group of good looking, sweet, humble folks would be such awesome musicians as well. It's just not fair. Some people, I'm talkin about my Lapstravaganza players, just seem to have it all.
Thanks to Bill, David, Michael, Patti and Bobby for one of the most memorable and fun weekends of my life. |

Video of the show was shot by David Siegler and will be edited by Michael Johnstone. Editing of last year's show will be completed soon, as well.
David probably has some stills to post too. |
