I'm looking forward to being with my friends and making new ones. I have two new tunes worked up and if I can get the CD and chord charts to Dick quick enough I'll play them. They are not the normal classic country tunes I'm used to playing but they have a nice melody to them. The first tune "Golden Earrings" I recorded on my "Keepin' It Country" CD. I played the Sho Bud pedal steel on that one and the 2nd tune will be "Among My Souvenirs". Done as a vocal by Marty Robbins and was done instrumentally by Jerry Byrd. I think that Chuck and I will be playing a couple of tunes together again this year. I look forward to it and this idea seems to have become a favorite at the shows we are on together. When you here the two us on stage, we both are playing Rickenbacker lap steels, you will notice right away that we both have such a different touch and tone. Mary and I will see all of you in Denver. Scotty

Hi everyone, I regret, I will not be able to play my set at this years show due to a minor accident. I'll be back up to speed in about 4 to 5 weeks. Please, don't miss this great show, always good pick'n, and alot of fun. Thanks to the Rocky Mountain Steel Guitar Club for asking me. Maybe next year. Curt Shoemaker

Jim, thanks for your concern. I'm fine, took 4ft fall, and fractured a couple of bones in my foot. It's hard to control the volume pedal with a cast on, so I have to lay out for a bit. My biggest regret, I was finally going to open for Jim Cohen! Oh Well

Curt, are you at least mobile enough to come to the show and hang with your buds? Hope so! Or... how about a set on lap-steel? No fancy footwork required!

Thank you folks for the E-mails and calls. To answer your question, my new gospel CD "Gathered In His Name" will be available at the show. My good friend Red Kilby will have them at his table along with his CDs & Sho-Bud caps. Please stop by and say hello to Red and check them out. Thanks, Curt

Al, JR and Dick Meis are friends. Contact Dick here and he can help you. JR always go to these steel shows.

I had his number at one time but can't find it.

I'm sorry to say that I have to forego playing at this fine show this year. My 85-year old Mother fell in her home last week and cracked some ribs. She's out of the hospital now and in a nursing home to recouperate and I need to stay on top of things there or else stuff falls through the cracks!

My deep regrets at this late cancellation and my very best wishes for a great show.

Thanks very much Chuck. And, I'm sure you meant to say that you'd miss my sense of pitch, rhythm and overall musicality, right? Wink

Well, I'm going to be in Denver this weekend anyway, so I called Dick and talked him into putting me in one of the open slots. I'll be playing at 12:20.

If anyone is looking for somewhere to go in Denver on Saturday night before the show, I'll be playing with Aaron Watson at a place called the Soiled Dove. Get the details at: http://www.tavernhg.com/soiled_dove

I'll be looking forward to seeing all of my Denver friends!

Al - I gave your info to JR this morning.
