Jobim's music works very well on C6th. Haven't seen any steel tab for his tunes. I play my own "ear" arrangments of One Note Samba, Once I loved, and How Insensitive on 6th string C6th. It's like any other chord melody arranging ... you generally look for melody notes on the highest strings and fill in the chord voicings below. Bossa sounds particularly nice on Weissenborn w/o fingerpicks, I think. Getting the Bossa Rhythm down so you really feel them is the real key. Besides listening to Joao and other great players, Nelson Faria's wonderful Brazilian Guitar book comes with a CD that demos many great Bossa and samba grooves .

Hi,
I'm interested in this genre too. I don't have any tabs, but Girl from Ipenema in F was pretty easy to figure out from sheet music. Mahna de Carnival by Luis Bonfa in Gm was pretty straightforward too. That's about as far as I have gotten.
I would be interested in hearing from others who have figured out Brazilian music on C6th. |

I agree about the excellence of the Nelson Faria book but I think that one can learn much more by listening and analysing. The 'Amoroso/Brasil' CD by Joao Gilberto (Two of his best LPs on one CD) is a lesson in itself.

| For the ones who like to play Bossa Nova here is a great addition if by chance your drummer can play the Brazil 66 beat.It is the Bassa Nova played with a double bass drum beat.Not two drums. |
