That one has been on Ebay at least twice in the recent past. I was interested and had the seller send me some more detailed photos. There is some damage to various areas than meets the eye on the photo you posted, which is the same as in the Ebay listing.
It's almost impossible to establish a book value for that instrument, because they are so rare, especially in the D12 configuration. If you are a collector, it's not worth much. If you are a player that wants a great instrument, I think it's worth just north of $1K. JMO

thats what he quoted me a little north of a grand. I have been lead to beleive that the metal body ricky's sound better than the wood or compressed wood bodies. Is this true?

I'd say maybe worth $800-1000 tops. Then again to a lap steeler they are worth alot. And they sound great. I had a D-16 version just like it.

I did some work on one a couple of years ago. It wasn't my kind of tone, but a nice guitar. It was an all-metal type like your pic. The only draw-back is that it has no legs, so you would need a stand of some sort. Folks on this forum have come up with stands that work fine.
