I filled a sub gig last night in a last minute cancellation show at Hill Country (my first time there, after all this time!) with the Jimmy Nations Combo. I wasn't feeling good when I said ok the night before and I was feeling worse by show time---hugging the bowl that afternoon with chills and sweats.
Barely made it, carrying my steel down the stairs. Passed on the drink ticket. Passed on the food!!! (oh the humanity!)
The only time I didn't feel like I was going to die or didn't wish I was going to die was when I was picking. And, go figure, I played better, deeper into the music, than I have in a long while.

The moral of the story is......um....I'll get back to you on that when I have a clue.

I feel for you Jon! Having to pass up the food at Hill Country...

Hope you are feeling better soon-

sometimes I've played better when "out of it" but I generally chalk it up to being gooned up on Dayquil.

If being sick makes people play better some of us need to be deathly ill. Oh Well

Jon I have had the exact same experience. I can remember one night in particular when I had a high fever and no business being out of bed and in public - like much worse and it's hospital time. I can't begin to see how I did it but I actually felt afterward like I had played well.
