Since I stopped playing some years back, I have become accustomed to dreaming about playing but this one takes the cake.
I dreamt that Bud Carter had found a new kind of string that would go from a B note above the A pull on the third string. And not only would it do that, but Bud was pulling it up a whole tone to C#.
I cannot recall what I was playing but do remember being absolutely thrilled by the sounds I was getting from this new, higher register.
I suppose that playing all those years and living and writing Pedal Steel Guitar articles has left an imprint on my mind that will haunt me to the end of my years. I mention it here so that you may anticipate the same fate when you throw in the towel.
I awake with an empty feeling after a dream such as this. Once, just after Curly Chalker had passed away, I dreamt about a session with him. We were swapping ideas and changes just like we would have done, had it really occured.
And scenes like those in the Jerry Reed thread simply scare the life out of me. Things yet to come perhaps.....

Paul, by the sounds of this post, the best thing that could happen to you would be to get back into steel playing. |

Paul-your dream as turned into of reality. My good friend Charles Christenson , in Ill. has a S12 tuned E6 and with a High B. I have a couple of CD's of his and he sounds good and in tune, He even flats it to Bb and it stays in tune.
You always did write good steel guitar stuff in that Fender Frets Magazine way back ...al. _________________ Michigan (MSGC)Christmas Dinner and Jam on my 80th Birthday.

Al: Back in the late 60]s, I crashed for a few days at Tom Morrell's apartment. He had a steel guitar set up there for practice and I used it several times for my own entertainment.
As any Texas player will tell you; Bb is where it's at ! It was tuned to Bb with a B major 7th on top and I think he too lowered it a half tone. Just shows to go you, What comes around, goes around.
Thank You for remembering ! Regards, Pail |

A few years ago, I read an article by some researchers who came to the conclusion that it was IMPOSSIBLE to dream in harmony! I was stunned! It's really stoopid what people will spend large sums of money researching. |

Things are getting easier with the passage of time and Macon is really in full bloom this spring. Dogwoods and Cherry Blassoms are everywhere and the mood is reflected in all of us ! Thanks for the remembering and I'll see you here on the Forum !

When I dream about playing nonpedal steel, there's always a problem that prevents me from playing (other than limited talent!). |
