Does any one have any referrals to someone for instruction on Dobro in the SF Bay Area.....moe bluegrass oriented is preferred.

Ivan has a pretty busy traveling schedule this year, and at one point had moved up to Humboldt County, but he gets down to the Bay Area on a semi regular basis, and was making arrangements to give lessons at a couple different locations. He is originally from San Rafael, where his parents still live.
Ivan is an outstanding teacher, outstanding picker, and a really good guy.
It is very worthwhile even taking an occasional lesson from him to keep you on course.
He is also writing a monthly dobro column on www.Melbay.com which is very worthwhile reading.

He will be teaching a dobro workshop at the Father's Day Bluegrass Festival in Grass Valley this June, and I believe superb dobro picker Billy Cardine of The Biscuit Burners will be teaching the advanced workshop this year.

We have a SF Dobro© Club that meets in the Bay Area on a monthly basis (more or less). You'd be welcome to come sit and pick with us.

Just to follow up on what Brad said about the Dobro Club meeting, there is a meeting this Sunday, April 13th, in Palo Alto. It's a friendly group of people. We're into a variety of musical styles.
