Tommy...I just heard part of the "Fleetwood Grass" cd. WOW..great stuff. Just wondering if you used standard gbdgbd tuning for most of that??

Hi Bill,

Do you mean that Tommy White is actually member of this forum?. What a privilege to have him here. I was stunned by his virtuosity on an other forum's video.
Bravo Mr. White

Blessings,
Abel

Back in the early 90's, Tommy put his Dobro on a Stonewall Jackson album called "Super Friends." Tommy White's Dobro playing is right up there with his steel playing which is to say: phenomenal!!!

If I am not mistaken, Tommy toured with the Whites on dobro for a stint the 80's after Jerry Douglas left, not an easy spot to fill.

Tommy checks in from time to time.
I listen to WSM AM on-Line and catch a lot of his work on the GOO. Never get tired of hearing him play things just like "on the record"..or taking off with some great improvising. But I didn't know he was a master of the dobro.

Tommy is a phenomenal musician period. He has the best attack on any instrument he picks up. I saw him play 6-string guitar one time and he blew me away.

I remember being at the Opry on my senior class trip in 1992 and seing the Whites' portion of the show. I just remember them having a dobro player who was a really hot picker and Sharon announcing that he was Tommy White. I thought, "Dang, I didn't know those girls had a brother who could pick like that!" It didn't dawn on me until several years later that Tommy White, the steel player from tv (and whose old push-pull I currently own), was the "little White brother" (who isn't). Wink
