I had misplaced my Time Jumpers DVD but found it today, it was in the wrong case (grandchildren).
Any way I put it in my laptop and was listening and watching with my headphones on. Sweet memories came on about the time my wife came downstairs, she came running over to me and ask me what was wrong. I was crying like a baby as John took his ride on the song. Realizing this is the only way I'll ever get to watch or listen to this
wonderfull man.
I miss you John

Bill, right after John died, I listened to a song that Vince Gill recorded for his Christmas record called "It Won't Be The Same This Year" and the song featured John on steel. He played a great steel solo on the song. And, a few days ago, I tried so hard to play "Look At Us" and while I played it, I thought of John Hughey. What a great steel guitarist he was. I even find it hard to listen to his steel on "Sweet Memories" too.

I'm having the same problem also! I can still hear John playing in my mind and to know that on this earth I will never see him or hear him like that again devastates me. I miss John too! I can barely listen to him playing and I always cry! He was such a great Christian, man, husband, father, friend and steel guitar player. There will NEVER be another John.

Now, Bobby Caldwell is sick and he needs our prayers. Roy & I plan on attending the convention again this year. If Bobby is unable to play this year due to his health and with John gone the convention will never be the same! I can't imagine!

John would be pleased to know so how so many cared but then again, I think he already knew. My heart & prayers still go out to Jean. I widowed at 31 and I know the pain. I just know she is lost without him.

Thanks for letting me share this post! God's blessings to all of you. Please keep Bobby in your prayers along with Jean.

I had the same reaction to Look at us on the opry last sat. The look on Vince and Tommy's face said it
all. Tommy did a great job and tribute with his playing.

A few years ago I was trying to research the facts behind John's solo on "Last Date". I E mailed him not expecting to hear back quickly, after all he was a famous guy and was at that time in his employment with Vince Gill. An hour later he wrote back and told me this story and shows just how wonderful a sense of humor he had. John had worked out a kind of twisted pedal lick (I cannot think of another term of it) at the end of the first phrase and kept using it on each take. He noticed that after each run thru that Owen Bradley(Famous Nashville producer) was getting in the face of the engineer and pointing at the tape deck. What was the problem? John had done such an amazing lick that Owen thought the recording tape was slipping....John saved the recording engineer's career and they all had a good laugh. Peter

Truly a treasure and influence on so many of us. I hope Jean is doing well and our prayers go out to Bobby Caldwell, as well. The Saturday night opry show with Vince & Dawn was emotional. A great show indeed. I felt she was singing Sweet Memories in honor of JH.
