Hello Fellow Forumites; would someone tell me what out-standing steel Player goes by the handle of " SHAKEY " to his fellow steel players. I believe this person is from the U.K.; but not a hundred per cent certain. Would you help me out; possibly our good buddy, Bent; can help answer this important question? Thanks for the assistance..Bernie Laughing Whoa! Smile

Bernie,
I certainly can help you out here.
Dave Seddon, aka Shakey is a British gentleman and a scholar of the pedal steel. Stand by and I will write a long overdue story on one of Britain's finest 'Steelies'.

Well there's your answer.

My guess was going to be Ben Keith, carrying on the theme from front man Bernard Shakey, a crazy alias for Neil Young from many years ago.

I thought maybe Ben had a different alias first name to fit in with the Shakey clan.

And the Bernard part is the obvious segue to Bernie, who started this thread.

OK, so it was a shot in the dark...but I think I deserve a couple points for effort... Winking

Hi Bent; Many thanks for your prompt answer to my inquiry about " SHAKEY " aka Dave Seddon. Check your mail box, O.K?
Mark; I also thank you for your kind efforts in giving us an answer to my question. Is Oxnard in Sonoma County? I had a brother [ now deceased ] whom lived on Sonoma Way in Oxnard. In fact, he was Highway Supt. for the City of Oxnard, several years ago. Played a flat-top Rhythm guitar, but no steel.. Regards, Bernie

Bernie, Oxnard is in Ventura county in Southern California, about 60 miles from Los Angeles.

Thank you so much, Mike; I knew it was a little north of L.A. I flew into L.A. back in1985, at the time of my brother's funeral. Over half of the population of Oxnard attended his services. He was the kind of Supt. of Highways whom would get out of bed at 3:00 A.M. to fix your Pot-Hole. And he loved the steel guitar..Bernie Sad
