Looks like someone got a good deal on this one.
Link to auction on eBay.
The blonde 1963 T-8 auction ended early, it was for sale at a store in New London, CT and they told me they got an offer of $2,500 for it. |

I wonder how many guys on the SGF are bidding
on these instruments?
It seems awfully silent around here!
If any one gets one of these let us know.
Aloha,
Don |

Don,
You're an enabler, aren't you?
Thanks for pointing these out. I hope someone gets the guitar of their dreams. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

It does seem like there are more Stringmasters on eBay lately. The selling prices seem to be down a bit overall but also somewhat erratic. A triple will sell one week for $2500 and the next week for $1800.
Does anybody know who "frontiersupplies" is? They seem to have an endless supply of really nice Stringmasters. |

I just bought my first ever electric lap steel last month from "frontiersupplies"- a Fender Studio Deluxe 6 Stringmaster that kicks seriously good tone. It was everything I wanted in a lap steel and more.
Don't know if I'm breaking any confidentiality but "frontiersupplies" is a fellow forumite named Whit Wilson, who was very courteous and helpful, a good seller and a good guy as well who cared about the instruments and the buyers first and foremost. |

Thanks for the info Kyle. He comes up with some very nice guitars, it's nice to know that he's a good guy to deal with. |

Why are there so many of these Fender steels on the market now days? It seems that every time I scour through Ebay, there are a couple more up for auction?
I hope people aren't abandoning the tone that those older Fenders have. _________________ (I am not right all of the time but I sure like to think I am!) |

I had always thought String Masters were made of ash, but I have one here for restoration that is made of what I think is maple (??) |

No, it's a single neck from a multi-neck Stringmaster. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Les,
I don't think it has anything to do with tone. I think it is because our government has sold out our country and many are left to unload some of there family heirlooms, and luxury items for gas money so they can drive to Burger King to hand in their resumes.
Did I say that out loud? Oops!!!
That is my two copper plated zinc pennies!!

This is not a political statement but an economic statement.
Economic forces are far greater than a government and the government's power to control them. If the government had the ability to resolve economic problems they would have done so by now and would have capitalized on it. Neither political party has been able to do it yet.
Political parties seize on the general public's ignorance of economic factors and facts with their political propaganda just to get votes. Politicians have many opinions that people are influenced by but few of them have the facts or even know the facts. It takes independent economic analysts without political agendas to give us the facts. When we listen to them it comes out much different than when you listen to politicians or political parties.
Presidents get too much credit when the economy is good and too much fault when the economy is bad.
This is to add a couple more copper plated zinc pennies' worth.
Aloha,
Don |

Jim I do think you got a good point that people are willing to give up some of their toys to make ends meet.
I suspect that if the recession is a long drawn out period then we may see the price of vintage instruments finally crest and come back to Earth a little bit. Actually I take that back because under current parameters the rich will keep getting richer even if the poor get poorer. What did Karl Marx say about pre-CBS stratocasters again? |

I too have noticed that there are a lot of vintage guitars and amps for sale now. I think a lot of families need the cash. People are worried about the economy, soaring gas prices, and the possibility of losing their jobs.
Vintage guitar/amp prices have gone down somewhat in the past couple of months. I don't think buyers/bidders are willing to spend big money at this time. People are hanging onto their money. It's a good time to buy a vintage guitar if you have the cash. _________________ My Site / My YouTube Channel
