Nashville, TN (PRWEB) March 26, 2008 -- After tying for second place, Tommy Butler broke away from the pack to be rated the #1 musician on the popular industry networking site, Musician's Referral List (MRL) http://www.rickryan.com/musicianreferral/musiciansearch.aspx . Stellar reviews of Tommy's talent can be viewed at aforementioned link. Scoring is 1 through 10. Butler has received almost exclusively 10 (highest) ratings from his peers and fans. Butler said this about his success, "This career has taken me places and afforded me opportunities to see and do things that I would have not gotten to do without music. It is an experience unlike any other." |

I wonder if I am still #3 steel player. Yrs ago willie Nelson and Jimmy Day were at Panther Hall in Ft Worth. Virtually everyone was being introduced as the #1 steel player all over the country. Willie was introducing the band and when he came to Jimmy he said "what # are you Jim". Jimmy held up 2 fingers. Willy said why are you #2. Jimmy answered" everyone else is #1 so I must be #2". At the break I said if everyone else is #1 and you are #2, that means that I must be #3. Jim said "you betcha". cc |

If I go through to a semi-logical conclusion here I must be tied for #2. I'm not #1 and I'm not CC who claims the #3 spot. I get chills just thinking how good I just became on steel. And without even practicing. CC you just brightened my day. I may even start asking for more money when I play. I'll make sure you get a % of the raise.
I would like to know how you missed #2 where everyone else is?

There's a lot of really great steel players many of us never get to hear. Sounds like Tommy is another one, so congratulations Tommy!

I think the operative word here is musician. Tommy was rated the #1 musician in Nashville by The Referral List web site. That's a real good thing, I imagine, and it probably translates into some good work referrals for an excellent player.
Congrats again, Tommy. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Wow thanx B0B !!! This is a peer based ranking where people who have worked with you rate you... #1 musician ??? I dont know about that ! But I do enjoy working with some of the best musicians in the world. I thank God everyday and before every gig for everything. If today was the last day and I had to go back to a regular job I would be satisfied with what I have done. Thanks again ! TB |

yeah, very cool tommy! who are some of the acts you work with and how old are you. we old guys don't get much info about younger working steel players who probably don't get as much credit as they deserve.
i'm assuming you're younger since your hair doesn't appear to be gray in the picture! |

Yup, that's my buddy Tommy. I've been telling him for 2 years better things are yet to come. He's very motivated, a team player and one helluva nice guy. He's paid some pretty heavy dues in life and they way I see it, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. He has my respect for sticking it out in Nashville. So many players go there and come back with out so much as a story. I speak from experience.
Congrats TB!
