I heard Johnny Cox play through one briefly, and it sounded really good. But, Johnny would sound good with a string and a tin can.

I played through both the Furlong/Sarno (Tonic) combo and a preamp/powered speaker, and they both sounded great. Lots of tone options, and a sonic character customized for steel. They have aesthetic appeal as well, which is a bonus.

| TC - is the size of your 12" SPLIT cabinet such that it could accomodate the addition of a "top shelf" addition for the Tonic preamp? In other words, an extension above the closed cabinet that would house the preamp similar in appearance to your new open backed cabinet/preamp rig? |

| I heard TC Furlong playing one of his amps at a guitar show in Chicago back in February. The amp sounded great. But then again, TC Furlong plays great! |

Seems all the recording engineers here are now building amps!!
I am just finishing up a from scratch prototype
112 for both steel and guitar.
Gonna do a channel each tuned for Tele and Shobud.
Can take a few different tubes in both preamp and power sections.
So I may do a different 1st tube for each.
Depends which I like best.
Then doing a '59 Bassman clone, 410 then gonna mod that a bit.
At some point I will do a more powerful 112 with mucho eq.
hand controled routing for mounting on a steel leg
and a few other bells and whistles.
And somewhere I am likely to build a mutant single radio tube tube monster.

I think it may be a blessing in disguise that I don't have the electronic skills that some of you guys possess ... I have so many toys now , I would have to build a bigger house for any more ....Good Luck with your builds !!....Jim
