Hi Folks, I hope you all don't consider me spamming. I wanted to share some pics with my fellow steel heads (my wife is pretty much "that's nice dear" these days!)

As You can see I went in a Stringmaster direction. The 8 and 6 have Lollars under the chrome covers. That guy should be arrested for putting excessive tone into his pick ups. They are insane!
I hope you all like the pics!

Here's a shot of the 6 string.

As always, Jason---super nice job! Great looking finishes. I like the bridge cover/hand rest on the red guitar.

btw---some questions:

what kind of wood? nitrocel lacquer? are the three pots wired Vol--Vol--Tone?

Well, those are nice. I'm lyin', of course, they're drop-dead gorgeous. I'd love to hear one...I've wondered about the Lollar Stringmaster p/ups. That look is Retro Heaven.

Thanks guys!
Jon, the wood is Korina-by far my favorite
and the finish is nitro. Except for the color---thats PPG brand paint with nitro over that. The PPG rep was telling me he has a 2 part clear that is way more durable that he gave me a sample of it but I'm a little hesitant to change from the tried and true.

The legs are from Bobbe Seymour. I know there's always a thread popping up asking about them. They are ROCK SOLID! Here is pic of the back so you can get a look. The bases don't come shiny but if you sart with 220 then 320 then 500 then 600 then 800 then 1000 and buff them they look like chrome. There is absolutely no wobble or play in them when they are threaded.

That blue one looks fantastic on the legs. Talk about functional art! How is it wired? I notice no pickup selector switch, is one of the controls a blend knob?

Thanks Mike!
I'm glad to hear you're loving her. Now send me some decent Mexican food!!!
Mitch, the controls are master volume, then master tone, then the blend knob that eases the neck pick up in (straight forward Stringmaster set up). Like all the Stringmaster fans here know, it's just a great set up. It really allows you to dial your sound in.
I know all you Stringmaster owners are thinking "No DUH!"

Jason - those are so cool! I bet those Lollar pickups really sing, too.

I was curious about how you decided to mount the legs -- are there specific weight bearing points, did you spread them out evenly, or just eyeball it?

Nice work!

I have something for you Steinar soon enough!
Peter, on the legs I drew a straight line down the back-not quite dead center to avoid going through any of the routes on the top.
Then I spaced the leg mounts as far apart as I could, evenly spacing the middle mount between the two end ones. I then inserted the mounts and legs into the recesses without screwing them down so they could be rotated. When I got a good, stable, even spread I marked where the screws were to go and that was it. I then made a template so I wouldn't have to deal with that routine next time.

James I'm so glad your enjoying the firebird!

Thank you all for the kind words about my work. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Man alive, those things are sweet.
First time for me, and am I reading it right that I might be able to order such a beast?
If so, please advise of the cost and other details.
I need to start saving today if I want to buy myself a christmas present like that!!!'

Very classy-looking, Jason! I'd love to test drive one some day. What's the wood/finish on the sides of the fretboard?

The fingerboards on both are ebony, bound with grained ivoroid. I'm inlaying the frets now because I wanted the extra clearance-and I think it looks slicker. Andy, Your so close to me. How bout the next one I finish (very shortly) I come up or you come down? Boston seems cooler to me than Bristol CT. I'm up for a road trip! Here's a better pic.
The black line between the two white is where the precise fret mark is.

Stephen, I did get your mail and I thought I sent the reply but I sent back to my "saved mail" folder! sorry bro----I'll resend now

Wow... those are gorgeous. I'd really go especially for that "sonic" blue 8-string, but can't afford it at present.

I'm in a guitar buying moritorium right now but sure, Jason, let's talk - I'd love to see it. Are you going to the Newport Guitar Festival in August?

Hi Jason,
Fantastic as usual! I wish I had your metal working skills.

Hey, maybe you would want to have a demo room at my New York AMP SHOW next May. 5th? We have to get a lap steel area together like at my LA shows. (Asher, Harmos, Cruztone, Lapdancer)

Andy, I'm probably not going to make it to the Newport show but I'll give you a shout to see if your around next month.

Thanks Loni, but believe me my metal working skills are remedial at best but it is something I really enjoy. I'm dying to get a full size Bridgeport miller....one day.
I'd be totally into your show in NY next May!
Count me in! Thanks for the invite!
