I'm lookin' for the chord you get on C6 with pedals 6,7 down on the E9 neck. I have the standard 3 and 5 setup on my SD10.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Depending on what stings you are picking on the C6th it could be a couple of different chords. I guess you could call it a F13+11 or a B7-9+5. The closest I think you can get to this is going to be using the knee that raises the Es. This will give you a 7b9 chord. I know its not the same chord or timbre exactly but to me it seems close. Its at a +5 position. Strings 9,8, 6,5.

Crowbear- Hi,That's close. But parr would approximate it more closely if he had a G# to G lower on his guitar, most guys do now. Then he could hit that and pick the 2nd string only with it.But even then without pulling the 10th string from B to A, it wont have the bottom. Page 7 on my Website has a few tuning options to think about....al.Smile

Hi Al
that P7 on C6 is quite distinctive
it's not quite the same on E9 or is it ?
here's one that sounds just like it :
E9 : strings 4567 w P1 & 2

CrowBear- well, that is another way. If he can't lower the G# to G. he can go another route.
Some guys dont realize that by using the 9 th string D as a base, a lot of modern chord stuff can be done . the first thing as you say, P1 and 2 are pushed down, then by picking the 9th String D gets a Dmaj7th9th, then by raising the E's to F on the usual knee leve on E9, you have the chord he wants. You skip the E 8th string on that chord.
Without the D, Matthew is right as it could be a Aug. +5 too without the D. If I wanted to play E9 and C6 .,I'd buy a D10.But I do have my Lean and Mean 5 pedal and 5 knee lever that is both E9 and E6.Page 7 on my Website has it all listed...al:)Smile

Wow,thanks guys this has help very much. While at the Dallas show I saw players get chords on the E9 that I didn't know were there. I have a D10 MSA but use the lighter Carter SD10 for playing out.
Mr Marcus thanks for all of the great info you have given me in the past and your great website. I think of you everytime I play a big band tune like Moonlight Serenade on C6.
