Hey all- The Northeast Iowa Steel Guitar Show Committee has changed the date to get away from the Iowa February snow storms!!! After listening intently to our players (especially the south that gets cut off from us in February) we have decided to change the dates of our show to October 24, 25, 26 2008! That's right, we will have two shows in 2008!! Again we will be having the jam at the Beautiful Electric Park Ballroom in Waterloo, one of the last grand old ballrooms left in Iowa.
We will be sending out notices to all annual and rotation players with this announcement, so make plans to join us. Lefty, Dennis, Dale and I are eagerly attacking the line up of the show and we look forward to placing our efforts in to the show instead of having to concentrate on back up plans for cancellations due to weather. YEEEHAWWWWWWWW!

We will again have a Friday night circle jam at the Electric Park Ballroom which is a great opportunity to see old friends and make new ones!!!!!
If you have had a hankerin' to play our show in Waterloo Iowa, drop us a line and let us know. More to follow!!!

It's a February AP photo of Ron Elliott 10 miles south of Waterloo, Iowa. He phoned Lefty shortly after the photo was taken to tell him he couldn't drive any farther. But, it was a gallant effort.
We won't have to be concerned about hell freezing over again.

What? No more ice capades? I've honed my winter driving skills to a "ninja" level driving between Janesville and Waterlooo.

All we have to fear now in October is "Stubby Steeler" jumping out of the piles of leaves along the road ridin' a "buck field mouse".

The new date is a great idea for the show.

Here are some pics from our journey home from Waterloo in 2007. A 6 1/2 hour drive that normally takes 2/12 hours.

And you wonder why I moved from Central Iowa to Texas some----WOW! Almost 40 years ago.
I still remember "tick or treating" in the SNOW and COLD.. AAAHHHH, what great memories-- Mom helping me with my costume, all dressed up ready to go trick or treating, Then putting on my HEAVY winter coat over the top and heading out the door. HA!!!!
Love y'all in Iowa tho... just glad to be in Texas.

Hey Paul, tick and treating is summer season, Trick or treat is in the fall. Ha. Just kidding, why would someone leave 50 inches of snow and ice, total isolation, to move to Texas. Remember about Iowa, every 5 miles is a village, Texas and Montana, every 100 miles. With no Hospitals inbetween. Come to our steel show and you will feel like you never left the kinship.

Hey Roger,
"Tick" or treating is big down here in the spring and summer ,also. HA!!!
Well sir, I have several friends keep tellin' me to come back for the Steel Show up there. Maybe sometime the wife and I "MAY" make the trip. We have certainly turned into to WARM weather people.
But, maybe your staff drummer could use a break or two during the show ?????
Thanks for the invite,
Paul

Paul,
If you come, bring Talley and Jim Pack with you. They like that "Tic" and treatin' also! Did you like the "new" hotel at Dallas this year? Just curious.

OK OK Let me restate and clarify.(I sound like I am running for public office don't I?) Da Nort' people are used to the winter driving so I made that assumption, however, the older I get, the more I hate winter!!! Evil or Very Mad Sooooooooo.....yes this is to accomodate all of our friends from the north, south, east and west. October will be a big party!!!! Cool

Hey Paul, our steel shows here in the midwest is becoming quite a party. We want you to feel welcome to visit them anytime.

As for our friends from da Nord, They bring us sausages and curds. Some even bring specialties like Colaches and ShoBuds. You might need extra beer for the ShoBuds, they're hard to chew. Extra beer sounds good eh?
And you will get treated to some brand new Williams guitars, and you will drool. No extra beer needed.
"Where no one is a Stranger" Please come.

Hey Neil, I personally "liked" the new location of the Dallas show. Albert has already had meetings with the hotel and made some minor improvements for next year,i.e elevators and longer restaurant hours. Its really nice having the entire hotel for the weekend, less hassle all around. Everyone is there for the show. Of coures, I stayed kind of busy so I wasn't able to get around to all of the vendors like I usually try to do, at least to say HI.

Roger, Dee and I will have to put Iowa on our "to do" list for the future!! I was there, once, several years ago, I think '98 or '99. Really can't remember when it was. Time keeps slippin' away. HA!!!!
