When your in Dallas and your in the mood to shop - this is what happens !!!
I didn't actually need a new seat cos I have a reasonably new Sidekick already in "All Black" but this baby was irresistable !! I'm sure Dan and Ken can fix you up with something equally as cool.

Neat seat cover.
I just got a new Burgandy color seat (sidekick model with seat back) from them last Thursday. It's still virgin and hasn't been used on a job yet.
The first thing I did when I got mine was replace the metal end handle with a rubber grip handle (that I had waiting for the seat), like THIS I have one of those on my old seat too. I don't know why Steeler's Choice doesn't use a handle like that.

Nice looking seat Paddy!! Kinda fun to get a variation of what everyone else has. I'm with Jack though, I would order mine with the rubber handle on the end and have them finish the inside like the old seats instead of the egg shell foam that deteriates intime and abosrbs odors too easily Thats when i order my new one |

Hey Paddy,
I used to have a pair of boots that would have looked great with that seat.
Oh yeah,I have to confess I touched your seat at the show. |

Here is a pic of my new Burgandy Sidekick with the "padded" handle instead of the one that comes with them.
Paddy, you should consider replacing the one on yours too (carry it a couple of times with everything inside and you will see).

Hey Paddy, It was a pleasure to meet you and I am so proud that you are enjoying your new seat. We try to satisfy all our customers by offering a varied of colors and designs. Thnaks again.
Jack, I thank you for posting pics of your new Sidekick. The padded handle is a nice idea. We have used the same handle since 1991 due to the price and readily avalible. This is the first time in 17 years anyone voiced a concern about the handle. Maybe I can get this padded type handle from one of my vendors at a good price and offer it to future customers. Thanks again to all Steelers Choice satisfied customers.Dan Rollans |

Dan, the old Blue side kick I have (I think I bought it in 96) has the same type of handle that I put on it about two months after I got it. The handle is made by Penn-Elcom which is a major supplier of case hardware. The "retail" price is $3.83 and wholesale prices would be a lot better.
I've been building cases, and some seats, since the late 70's and always used some type of "padded" handle(s). (I don't have the equipment to do much now as I sold most of my shop equipment when I retired and moved from Kansas City to Florida). |

Thanks guys, yes it sure is a cool looking seat -- I will only take it out on special gigs where I get to wear my matching boots !! I have a straight black one as well which will get to do duty on the more mundane occasions!
Thanks Dan for your great seats - my bum is very grateful.
I don't mind the handles, can't say I have noticed it being an issue. |
