GFIs are definitely great guitars. I love my GFI Ultra D-10"Redgold Beauty". It's my best guitar.

I've got a SD-10 3X5 Keyless Ultra in black and red coming from the fine folks at Corson Music. I did a lot of checking, and found them to be exceptional. The guys at Corson Music are a steel players best friend!
GFI............
Way to go! |

biggest difference(I think) is stainless steel changers on the Ultra. You can request a stainless steel changer on the Expo, but it doesn't come standard from what I remember.
cosmetically not much different except a different look on the endplates. Expo=hammered tone finish Ultra=brushed finish. _________________ Mullen RP SD-10, Hilton volume pedal, Peavey Nashville 112, George L's. |

I have a "pre-stainless" Ultra.
I have hot rodded it up a little bit, but it was a great guitar to begin with.
I did a simple little mod underneath, to quiet things down and improve the action. I couldn't ask for a better playing guitar, and it records very well too.
I did get a chance to play an Ultra last year that featured the stainless changer. I still personally prefer the standard changer over the stainless. |
