The setting is a NAshville recording studio and they jam out on a tune. They show the dobro player briefly. I've seen the JCPenny one which was already posted. Glad to see the advertising business is using the instrument more often. |

Dobro or no, the Viagra ads (other than the anachronistic guitars and '90s-forward product) are sappy and lame enough to have been dreamed up on Madison Avenue in the '50s. All these need are to be shot as black-and-white kinescopes. Viagra ads cause ED. _________________ "Gopher, Everett?" |

when i take viagra my lap steel becomes too unstable to play. how do others deal with this phenomena. oh yeah that toilet seat lap steel, the "other side of the lap"?? easily replaces playing behind the neck guitar stunt but i can't see the frets from there. seriously |

And there's the added plus of having a backup bar if you drop the one you're playing the guitar with... |

My friend Mike Solle auditioned on reso for that ad along with a bunch of other Nashville pickers. He saw the finished ad and said they only used one or two guys from Nashville, the rest were L.A. guys. I guess we're just not pretty enough here... _________________ Visit my music page at http://facebook.com/drfried |

They had an audition for the ad in NYC also. It was nice to visit with with all the guys in the waiting room. Funny scene with massive money at stake.
The way I look at it is the Nashville guys are just too talented and the NYC guys are too good looking so they needed to use the LA guys so that the rest of the country doesn't get intimidated. _________________ Bob |

Auditons in NYC, Nashville, and in L.A., all for that one commercial??
Sounds like some stiff competition.

They use music to sell everything. That is all this ad is...business. Ad geeks sit around tables and figure all the ins and outs of what will look right and who will look right and what age groups buy the product and all of that. Those guys in that commercial may not even use the product but that does not matter. It's all business. |
