I don't know if this has been posted, but there is an unusual pedal steel on EBay. Click Here
I have no interest in this listing, just happened to see it and it seemed worthy of looking at. |

Different, that's for sure! Mostly (non-pedal) Fender parts, with a Bigsby-type cable pulling setup and a sort of Magnatone physical layout. |

I was with Bill Denison when he built this guitar. Playts incredible, tone is very weird.
It was built in the summer of 1959.
Craftsmanship? YES!

That guitar lived for years at Norris Family Music in Mesquite TX in the early 90's. Quite a conversation piece, no lie. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

You can only imagine the hours and labor intensive effort it took to manufacture that instrument. Bravo! |

Yes! Skippy Rice! Saw him do his performance trick on this guitar many times at the Ole' Top Rail and Twin Oaks Club in the Grapevine area in Dallas,
Brings back a lot of great memories Jr. Knight!!!

Bill didn't do the engraving himself, an airline pilot friend did it for Bill for $125.00. Why do I remember this and can't find my keys, whew!
However, Mr. Dennison did many things that I find hard to forget. A wonderful craftsman. And he never threw me out of the workshop, but should have possibly. He taught me a lot. One thing he taught me was to never think anything is impossible, I thank him for this.

The engraving on that guitar is beautiful!! When I installed the Sneeky setup on ebb's first 400, I was met with an unusual challenge. Someone in the chain of ownership of that instrument by the name of 'Jerry' had engraved his name on the frame of that otherwise-pristeen 400 in phallic symbols!!! If anyone out there knows of a 'Jerry' who at one time owned ebb's silver-frame 400, please allow your pet yak to doo-doo freely on that guy's lunch plate. It took me over six hours to sand the phallic symbols out of the front of that guitar frame. I'm certain that ebb would be more than happy to forward the bill to him for my expenses, and therefore his expenses, in removing the well-done yet prurient artwork from this otherwise fine instrument. That bugger was in there deep too... in some spots as deep as 1/64". I haven't figured out to this day if that was a form of advertising for carnal enterprises he might have been involved with at the time, or ego gone wild and out of control. But make no mistake about it, Stevie Wonder and Ronnie Milsap could have readily recognized just what it was that defaced the front of the guitar without the benefit of Braille. Any Jerry's out there who owned a Fender 400 with your name on the frame?? Time to fess up!!!

Well, the guitar sold for over $900. I really had to restrain myself. Cool guitar! |
