I was backstage at the Opry last Friday night and got to spend about 30 minutes before the Opry with Tommy. As usual he took a lot of time with me. We talked about the old ZBs and the newer guitars. Tommy was playing his new blue Sho Pro(he even let me sit behind it and play it). It is one great guitar and of course Tommy makes it sound like a million dollars. It had a great tone, reminded me of the Sho Bud and ZB tone, just great. The mechanics on the guitar were also great, really machined to a close tolerance and the wood was beautiful. The best looking birdseye piece on the front I have seen in a long time. Just a great guitar all around. And of course Tommy was so nice and pleasant to be around. He is a great asset to the steel guitar community. Tommy is just a special person. Besides all that he is one of the greatest players in the world.

Back when he was playing on the TV show that Gary Chapman hosted, I don't recall the name of the show, Tommy learned that my family and I were in the audience of the taping of the show. They would tape the show about an hour before it actually aired. He talked with my son just a few minutes before the show started and an usher promptly came back to us and moved us down on the front row directly in front of the steel guitar. At the end of the show the closing theme song had not ended but the cameras had turned off and Tommy got up and headed across the floor right to where we were sitting and Gary sit down at the steel guitar and I think finished out the theme song and Tommy talked with us about 15 minutes and was very nice then excused himself saying he wanted to go home and see his little girls. Tommy is a very nice guy and family man and his playing of course speaks for itself. There is none better in my opinion.
