Today I received the gig bag I ordered from Musician's Friend. They list it as:
Lanikai Baritone Uke Gigbag item 541604 03. The tags on the bag identify it as:
Hohner Series 600 Bariton (sic) Ukulele Bag, OEM HSS 614.
Evaluation:
It fits looser on my Ric Silver Hawaiian than I thought it would: a good 2 or 3 inches of slop in both length and width. There is supposed to be 25 mm of padding (about an inch), but it feels like half that. But for my ugly duckling it will do. I really like the ukulele shape and the light weight. The handle is very comfortably padded, albeit not anywhere near the center of balance for the old Ric.
Hey, whaddayah want for $19.99? I'm fairly happy. Well, sort of.
Maybe a mandola gigbag would fit better. I'll bet there are a lot them around! |

I have the same and use it for my Rick NS. It's been to Hawaii 5 times and across country twice. I have also used it to transport tenor ukes.
definitley a good buy. |

Shucks!!
I am looking for a gig bag for easy carrying. The guitar measures 32 inches long and 12 inches wide.
Any thoughts or ideas anyone?
Aloha,
Don |

A little over a year ago, I purchased a Rick bakelite that came in a Hohner bag. The dimensions are 10x30 making it a perfect fit. It fits nicely under the seat on an airplane. The handwritten number on the HSS tag inside the bag is 144128. The guitar also fits well in an ukulele chipboard case. Mahalo nui for the info. I've trying to track down another Hohner gig bag.

Aloha Don,
Elderly Instruments has a nice selection of cases and bags for most instruments.

Thanks Ron,
I did a quick look at the Elderly site. One of the problems is that they give no measurements to help.
My instrument measures exactly 11" x 32", but would need a little extra room, but not eccessive.
Any more specifics anyone? |

Chuck,
What are the measurements for the Squire gig bag?
I called Musicians Friend, and they did not have the measurements. They said submit a question by e-mail and they would try to get an answer.
Measurements of these cases and gig bags are hard to come by on the internet.
Nice to have Forum buddies with some info.

On eBay there is a very nice gig bag for a Baby Taylor 3/4 size guitar. I bought one a few months ago for my 8 string lap steel, which is roughly the size and shape of a Ric bakelite. It worked out really good, and a buy it now price of $19.95. |

Here's some measurements I got from Gold Tone for their lap steel gig bag.
Top of wedge is 5 "
Bottom of wedge 13"
Length is 37"
Padding is 1/2"

Some of this discussion has been helpful.
It appears there is a gig bag for anything.
I ended up ordering a Musician's Friend 49-Key Keyboard Gig Bag which measures: 36" x 14" x 5".
My non-pedal steel measurements are 32"x 11" x 2.5".
This would seem ideal because it gives room for some padding. The cost was $30.
After it arrives and I check it out, I give some feedback on it.
Aloha,
Don

I have a question in relation to the padding in the Gig bag that I just purchased. I am using dense foam rubber. IS THERE ANY PRECAUTIONS I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT OR TAKE?
The Gig Bag arrived from Musician's Friend. It is a 49-Key Keyboard Gig Bag which measures: 36" x 14" x 5". It has some padding but have added padding.
The gig bag size is ideal for my D-8 Lyric Magnatone whose measurements are 32"x 11" x 2.5".
The gig bag cuts the total weight to about 25 lbs. from 37 lbs with the old case.
NOW THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION WILL I HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE AIRLINES AND TAKING IT ABOARD?
Aloha,
Don
