Here's a good one of Buck Owens singing Under Your Spell Again. Lots of steel and close ups of Terry Christofferson (sp?). As I recall, he was Buck's longest lasting steel players, and was (is) the manager of Buck Owens Crystal Palace in Bakersfield . I don't see much written or said about him on the Forum, but he seems like a rather talented musician, and a multi-tasker as well. What's that he's playing, a Marlen?

It's Terry Christofferson. I felt sure about that when I posted originally. I've seen him on TV with Buck Owens several times in the past, and even heard Buck introduce him. I also recognized the sound of his playing from when I've heard him in the past. He has a distinct sound or tone. One thing for sure, he loves Ralph Mooney - it's evident. I read something somewhere that Moon was a big influence on him and he obsessed over learning Moon licks over the years. Seems like he was with Buck something like 20 years or more? I guess he took over when Jerry Brightman left? _________________ Steeless. |

Yep, that's Terry alright. I used to watch him playing with Buck on Hee-Haw when I was a kid. He was the only player I saw regularly, so he was one of my favorites. I once asked Jeff Newman what he thought of him, and he said "I don't consider him a steel player." I wonder why? He wasn't joking either, he was serious. Anyway, I'm glad to see that Terry is still playing. |
