I have a Peavey Jazz Classic and was wondering if i could use a different pre amp with it. It has a pre/out power/in jack, and a line out jack.
Also the two speaker wires are disconnected yellow and blue. Just curious which one goes to pos. and neg.
Thanks Cory |

Yes---if you have that insert point then there is no reason you can't patch a pre into the power amp in, bypassing the entire front panel.
I don't know your amp but if it is a single speaker amp then the + or - of the speaker wires does not matter. It only matters when matching up more than one speaker, keeping them in phase with one another. |

I believe the blue wire is + on a Peavey. |

thanks Jon,
i plugged my output from my external preamp into the pre/out pwr/in Jack and it didn't work. Then I pulled the cable out a little from the jack and it worked. it seems like there is a feel stop when you first plug it in, and i guess thats where it needs to be. It definetly bypassed the front section. |

Oh, is there just the one jack? Then it must take a TRS plug, to a Y cable, I guess. Your solution isn't ideal but it serves the purpose of mating the proper contacts. |

The color coding for electronics is not the same as electrical wiring. In electronics, black is negative or ground. |
