I had the pleasure of attending a workshop Jim did hosted by Howard R last year and it was worth every penny, friends. Jim is a great communicator and fantastic picker. He taught us this great "million dollar lick" that took me forever to finally get, but lo and behold my playing got much better in the process. Learned a lot about picking, tone, phrasing and making my playing a lot less "vanilla" sounding. I highly recommend taking a class with Jim.

I enjoyed the Heffernan workshop I attended a few years ago. Jimmy has a knack for teaching this stuff, and he is an outstanding picker as well.

For those coming from a steel background, Jimmy has at times in his career, made a living from playing pedal steel, so he understands what it takes to transition a steel player into a good dobro player that gets enough attack into his playing along with achieving good tone.
