I just joined the forum, and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Scott Kamp, and I'm from the Beaumont, Nederland, Texas, area. This area has produced various country music artist such as George Jones, Tracy Byrd, Clay Walker, Mark Chestnut, David Varnado (fiddle player for several top country artist), Bobby McDill (country songwriter in "Country Music Hall of Fame") and Roy Rossetta (keyboard player for several steel guitar shows). Roy and David are my coffee and lunch buddies, as they are still living in Nederland. I play a D-10 Mullens, and have been playing 38 yrs., mostly in churches, and for gospel groups, and at a small music opry. I also play keyboards, bass, and a little guitar. Our family had a gospel group back in the 70's-80's. We were signed with the " CALVARY RECORD LABEL" back then, in Nashville, Tnn. Myself and 6 other family members are re-locating to the Nashville area in May of this year. See "yall" (I'm a Texas southerner) at the steel conventions.

Thanks for the welcome fellow steelers. I really love this forum. There is so much information on here, and really great people that have the same interest that I have. My second hobby next to steel guitar, is deer hunting. Especially bow hunting. Does anyone know of a place to Trophy hunt in Tennessee? Hey Carrole, we don't live that far apart, and if you want to jam, that would be great. We are soon to be moving, but until then we could jam. My father-in-law sings a lot of country and bluegrass tunes, and would love to sing with a Dobro player. I would also like to learn a Dobro, as I have fallen in love with bluegrass music in the last 3 yrs. or so. I can't wait to get to Tennessee. That part of the country seems to have a lot of bluegrass music going on. Or maybe you could have lunch with me and David (Neal McCoy's fiddle player). We can talk music.

Gentlemen,
Welcome to the forum. Scott- I'm an hour from Nashville, let me know when you get here. Dashawn it's good to have a SS Player. Although our copedants are different we still face issues of learning which reaches across all copedants putting us all in the place of the student seeking help mechanically and technically.
I hope you both enjoy the forum as much as I do. If I can ever help, just email,

Dan

Hey Brandon, thanks for the kind compliments. I really enjoyed playing in Katy. It was my first time to play a steel club, and I was on pins and needles. Usually after 2-3 times, I'll shake the nerves. Maybe I can play there again. My daughter has been singing since she was 5 yrs. old. Several people told me I should take her to Nashville at 10 years old, as they were all amazed at her singing, but I thought someone that young would be laughed at. And then came "LeAnn Rymes". She was, and is still one of my favorites, not to mention she is beautiful. Aimee later got involved in cheerleading, and beauty pagents, although she sang in her high school choir. She now sings in her own group in the Houston area. By the way, hang in there, and I believe you'll be playing at the "Opry" someday. It's good to see some younger, excellent, enthusiastic steel players coming up. Thanks again !
