Strange looking leg arrangement, but probably a Multi-Kord copy, mechanically. The "Custom" chrome name on the front is a Ford item, I believe...probably the fender-script from the late '60s or early '70s. The Custom was the base trimmed full-size model, used mostly as taxi-cabs and police cars.

Designed by one Lawrence Maciver (Bristol) and helped by some Henriques fellow! 1963 ish..

A non pedal one was made for John Marsden..

There was also one with a photocell pickup that output the signal as a squarewave..

The mechanism was a development of the one on the Gibson EH-150 that I had in the early 60's

Was Lawrence MacIver a canal enthusiast ? The shape suggests the inspiration came from a barge... Very Happy

I remember the Plato pick-ups,back in the early
'60's I fitted one in between the original pick-ups
on my Futurama 2, can't remember what it sounded like
or how we wired it.
All the best

Hi
The roller heads look very like the old Fender cable cam system , as do the pedals.
It's a Fender dressed up for Sunday best !.

I like it! Anyone live close enough to pick it up and ship it to me, if I bid and win the auction?

Sorry b0b, but it's an example of one of the few guitars I helped design and as such has sentimental attachments, I DO intend to win the auction, UNLESS someone bids above £125 !!

I Designed and built 4 D-10 Pedal Steels whilst in Ireland in the early 70's and would definitely pay more for one of them !!

That is an interesting guitar, and I enjoy seeing pictures of unusual specimens, however, what is the politics behind your ending comment. You talk of two different tools as if they can be interchanged. I know you folks in the UK are not supposed to protect yourself if attacked, but in the US, in most places it is expected. I would hope if I needed to defend myself, I find more than a guitar in the safe. However if I am going to play music, no need for an AK, most times a large bouncer can take care of the problem, although many places, there is a shotgun at hand if necessary. Do you think a phillips screwdriver is a better invention than a crescent wrench? Bill A. Moore

Bill A, Are you replying to the correct thread?
No politics here, please! Insulting comments not appreciated:

"I know you folks in the UK are not supposed to protect yourself if attacked"

Not a nice thing to say. Mad

Arch.

I was only referring to the farmer who was prosecuted for using a shotgun to defend his home, and was jailed for defending himself. Is that incorrect?

That is correct. I thought you were having a go at Britain in general. We did quite well in two World wars at defending our country. Sorry, if I misunderstood your comment. Now, back to Baz's steel!

I don't think that Philip's screwdriver is able to be compared to the Wench from the Crescent !

A Pun I do believe..

With regard to Arch's comment about defending ourselves :- did you know that here in the UK if you are being robbed and defend yourself you can be sued for assault by the criminal if you hurt them.!
